Biog and History
The name came first...in 1984...borrowed from the Lou Reed album of the same name.
Songs were written from then onwards.
Full band formed in 1987 in Edinburgh, Scotland.
First demo recorded March 1987 at Frontline Studios, East Calder.
First gig, 8th October 1987 at The Venue, Edinburgh.
First record, a 3 track 12" EP entitled "In A World Like This" released in March 1988 on the Surfin' Pict record label..
Chosen in July 1989, out of 500 contenders, as one of the 6 best
unsigned bands in Scotland, resulting in 3 songs being recorded at CaVa studios Glasgow in early 1990, with two being included on the album "The CaVa Sessions - The Best New Music In Scotland" compilation, released in June 1990 on the TLV record label.
The band continued to demo through to 1992 then took a substantial break to concentrate on family matters.
A "promotional use only" CD single featuring the track
"Queen Of Lorient" was distributed in late 2001 to various radio stations, record labels and management companies but was never given an official release. (It can be heard on our Soundcloud page.)
A show was performed at The Venue, Edinburgh, in December 2001, using a hastily assembled and ill prepared line-up.
There then followed another very long hiatus.
In July 2016 and with an entirely fresh and new line-up, the band headed back into the recording studio to recorded four new tracks for release as two separate singles with associated B-sides.
The first single "Make A Home" was released in October and received international radio airplay and very favourable reviews. BBC Radio Scotland's Billy Sloan included it in his top 5 singles of 2016.
The following February a second single "Faded By The Sun" was released and similarly gained worldwide radio play and positive reviews.
An 8 minute "soundscape" entitled "Coney Island Rain" was recorded in June 2017 and due to public demand, was released in September of the same year. A piece of music rather than a song.
The band headed back to the studio in April 2018 to record a new four track EP entitled "Caledonian Scars 'n Bars" which was released the following June, again receiving receiving radio plays and positive feedback internationally.
One day...there *will* be an album.....and some live shows.
